New Mexican Tin Stars – an exciting choice for restaurant lighting
The basic Mexican Tin Star is not a new lighting element, but No Mas! Mexican Restaurant Decor has discovered and designed some new options for your home, restaurant or special project.
The newest Mexican star lights have variations in materials. These designs have pushed the envelope of the basic tin star with marbles and simple perforations.
Glass Stars: We produce glass stars in a number of solid colors and multicolored.
The most popular three sizes 13″, 15″ and 17″
Tin color: Shiny silver, oxidized bronze and copper patina.
For custom orders, we can also paint the inside for a different effect ie. silver stars that glow blue!
Marbles: We offer various marble colors and sizes. Most stars with marbles are made with multiple colored marbles, however, we can also make them with the same color.
Pierced patterns: The simplest is a simple star with star perforation. We also offer classic “grabado” patterns for a great visual effect.
Configurations of tin stars vary. The number of points and differentiation in lengths are just a few.
How to hang Tin Star arrangements
Placing the perforated tin star in the corner of a room in various sizes and heights will project the light on adjacent walls. Rather than having an electrical J-Box for each star, consider one junction using an appropriate canopy.
Clusters of stars make an incredible statement. We produce custom wrought iron solutions as well as other canopy options, depending on the desired effect over a dining table. Individually in a home or restaurant gives nice ambient lighting and brings the focus down from the ceiling.
In a restaurant, spa or hospitality environment, where a much larger impact needs to be made, we recommend a large canopy, shown here with a collection of Basket Lights. We have canopies in different diameters, typically 1 meter, 1.5meter and 2 meter, to hang clusters of stars (or other elements) from. These canopies are great for hiding commercial ceilings and bringing the lighting decor to be the focal point.
How Mexican tin stars are made
The typical perforated tin star is made by cutting the tin from sheet stock into triangular shapes. Mexican stars are made individually, by hand, with basic tools and lots of talent. The shapes are then perforated or stamped to the desired pattern. Once the number of “picos” or points of the star are made, they are soldered together to form the star. The more complex, the more time consuming … and more costly. The triangle is then break formed into one element of the star. They are easy to hang and can use standard or LED bulbs. UL rated lamp cord and socket are included with the stars we sell. The fixture can be easily hung from a standard electrical junction box.
Attention to detail fills every Mexican tin star with beauty.

At the entrance, lit Mexican stars can be welcoming for guests. At the bar, stars can be used as pendants. Try a spacing of about three feet and choose an odd number of stars.
Any dark corner in your restaurant can be transformed into a beautiful focal point with the addition of a grouping of tin stars.
Give your guests a reason to tell their friends how much they love the ambience in your restaurant!
